Configure and operate the public interpreter feed with approved resolution, frame rate, background, viewer integration, and egress.

Before you start

ASL must be enabled and entitled for the event. Roles, viewer integration, egress, usage, and PTZ availability depend on organization permissions, plan, devices, and current event state.

  • Assign a primary and backup interpreter/operator.
  • Use a supported camera, headset/microphone, well-lit space, stable network, and approved background.
  • Rehearse private and public paths on the same devices/network used for production.

Step by step

  1. Confirm readiness. Interpreter, private stage, captions, framing, network, viewer link, and backup.
  2. Configure output. Select interpreter/source, crop/layout, resolution, frame rate, background, and public audio policy.
  3. Check entitlement/usage. Plan, event toggle, duration, and egress limits.
  4. Open public return. Use an independent viewer/device.
  5. Start ASL Program. Authorized operator selects Go Live ASL on cue.
  6. Verify. Video motion, hands/face, captions/PiP, audio policy, latency, and viewer count/egress.
  7. Monitor. Interpreter readiness, device/network, public freshness, and logs.
  8. Stop on cue. End ASL Program and confirm public output offline.
  9. Preserve evidence. Redacted screenshots/logs and incident notes.

What success looks like: Interpreters receive safe private coordination and the audience receives a verified public ASL output with tested recovery.

Check your setup

  • The audience receives stable correctly framed interpreter video and the operator can prove start, health, and stop state.

Troubleshooting

Go Live ASL disabled

Resolve interpreter readiness, entitlement, role, event/live prerequisite, or pending command.

Program live but no viewer video

Check public destination, egress, viewer option, network, and selected source.

Video choppy

Reduce load/resolution/FPS within requirements and fix network/device.

Security and operational notes

  • Public output is distinct from private stage.
  • Verify recording/consent.
  • Do not expose private audio.
