Diagnose private-stage, device, caption confidence, PTZ, pairing, viewer, and public-egress failures.

Before you start

ASL must be enabled and entitled for the event. Roles, viewer integration, egress, usage, and PTZ availability depend on organization permissions, plan, devices, and current event state.

  • Assign a primary and backup interpreter/operator.
  • Use a supported camera, headset/microphone, well-lit space, stable network, and approved background.
  • Rehearse private and public paths on the same devices/network used for production.

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Identify the affected surface. Interpreter preview, private talkback, confidence captions, ASL control, Program, viewer/PiP, or PTZ.
  2. Check event/role. Correct organization/event, ASL enabled, entitlement, access, and live state.
  3. Check devices. OS/browser permissions, selected camera/mic/output, driver/cable, and competing apps.
  4. Check network. WebSocket/media reachability, bandwidth, packet loss, proxy/firewall, and clock.
  5. Check private/public routing. No talkback leakage and correct Program source.
  6. Check egress/viewer. Program state, destination, resolution/FPS, viewer option, and downstream network.
  7. Check PTZ separately. Control path is distinct from video capture.
  8. Switch to tested fallback. Communicate degraded state.
  9. Collect redacted evidence. Times, actors, device names, event/session/output states, and logs.

After the fix: Interpreters receive safe private coordination and the audience receives a verified public ASL output with tested recovery.

Confirm the fix

  • The failure is isolated to a specific ASL layer and resolved or moved to a safe documented fallback.

If the problem continues

Interpreter preview good, public bad

Focus on Program source/output/egress/viewer.

Public video good, no talkback

Focus on private audio permission/routing.

Everything drops

Check device machine/network/session rather than changing all settings.

  • Protect private-stage content in logs/screenshots.
  • Do not expose access links.
  • Prioritize interpreter/audience communication.
