Before you start

Requires a destination, recording, or analyzer capable of decoding CEA.

Sign in with access to the correct organization, team, and event.
Record event, language, workstation, app build, OS, drivers, destination, and operator.
Commission with a test pattern and non-public receiver before program video.
Run an output with embedded captions.
Use a script with short, long, corrected, and silent intervals.
Access every downstream processing stage.

Disable burned-in/player overlays that could mask failure.
Select CEA-708 service 1 and read the script.
Select CC1 when 608 compatibility is required.
Check characters, punctuation, ordering, lines, presentation mode, placement, and clears.
Measure alignment using recorded speech/flash reference.
Record two minutes and verify captions during independent playback.
Repeat after every switcher, transcoder, CDN, platform, or recorder.
Save evidence and exact sender/receiver versions.
