  • Sign in with access to the correct organization, team, and event.
  • Record event, language, workstation, app build, OS, drivers, destination, and operator.
  • Commission with test pattern and a non-public receiver before program video.
  • Record exact event, profile, target, workstation, build, and failure time.
  • Obtain permission to collect local diagnostics.
  • Keep credentials outside the report.

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Record state before changing it: input, encoder, captions, targets, runtime status, and first error.
  2. Reproduce with Test input and one target to separate source from encode/network.
  3. Export GStreamer path/availability, plugins, devices, and hardware encoders.
  4. Classify the first failure: source negotiation, plugin, encoder, CEA insertion, mux, DNS/network, authentication, or receiver.
  5. Test one controlled fallback: Test input, Auto/x264, H.264 Main, AAC, temporary caption isolation, or known-good destination.
  6. Collect app/OS/GPU/driver versions, redacted profile, timestamps, logs, and receiver evidence.
  7. Restore security settings and rotate any credential exposed to a log.
  8. Escalate with reproduction, expected/actual, first error, impact, evidence, and workaround.

After the fix: The fault is isolated to a layer or support receives a reproducible, redacted case with safe workaround.

Confirm the fix

  • First error is captured before cascades.
  • Minimal test identifies input, encode, captions, or destination.
  • No secret remains in evidence.
  • Rollback is documented.

If the problem continues

  • No useful logs: reproduce briefly with diagnostics open and correct system time.
  • Works without captions: focus on CEA elements/decoder.
  • Works with Test: focus on device/mode/driver/clock.
  • Works with x264: focus on GPU driver/sessions/plugin.
