Assume control of an already-live event when the current host is unavailable and policy authorizes it.

Best for: Organization administrators, event producers, live operators, and authorized support staff.

Before you start

Event access and actions depend on organization role, team scope, plan entitlements, limits, and current event state.

  • Use an individual verified account in the correct organization and team.
  • Confirm the event owner, live operator, output owner, and incident authority.
  • Review the current configuration before changing an existing or live event.

Step by step

  1. Confirm the event is live. Takeover is not used for an offline event.
  2. Attempt communication. Contact the current host and production lead.
  3. Inspect ownership/audit. Identify last host, recent actions, device state, and incident context.
  4. Confirm authority. The operator must have takeover permission and explicit production approval.
  5. Initiate Take over. Use the supported control once and wait for ownership confirmation.
  6. Revalidate devices/runtime. Select/confirm local audio ownership as required, then inspect routing, provider, captions, translations, and outputs.
  7. Verify final program. Check every critical downstream destination.
  8. Prevent dual control. Tell the prior host not to resume changes without handoff.
  9. Document incident. Record reason, approver, old/new host, time, impact, and recovery.

What success looks like: The event reaches the intended saved or live state, and every required operator can verify the result without receiving unnecessary access.

Check your setup

  • The new authorized host owns the live session and production continues with all critical outputs reverified.

Troubleshooting

Event not live

Run preflight and use Go Live instead.

Permission denied

Use the designated authorized operator; do not borrow credentials.

Takeover succeeds but no audio

Grant/select/test local device ownership and recheck routing.

Security and operational notes

  • Takeover can interrupt production.
  • Use only under a rehearsed incident plan.
  • Preserve audit/log evidence.
