Help an attendee reach and personalize the correct accessible experience with minimal assistance.

Best for: Event attendees and support staff assisting viewers.

Before you start

A current viewer link, QR code, or approved embed is required. Available languages, TTS, ASL, and personalization are controlled by the event and plan.

  • A supported browser and internet connection.
  • The event link or QR code.
  • Headphones if Spoken Captions will be used in a shared space.

Quick start

  1. Open the event. Select the official link, scan the QR code, or open the approved embed. Confirm the event name and organizer before continuing.

  2. Use the lobby. Review the event details and privacy information. Choose a language when offered, then select Join. Some events skip the lobby or join automatically.

  3. Choose a caption language. Open viewer settings and select one of the languages enabled by the organizer. If a language is missing, contact event staff; the viewer cannot add production languages.

  4. Adjust readability. Change text size, foreground/background colors, contrast, and layout to suit your device and environment. Rotate the device if that improves available space.

  5. Use Spoken Captions carefully. If available, select a supported voice/language and start playback. Browser autoplay rules may require a tap. Use headphones to avoid disturbing others or feeding speech into nearby microphones.

  6. Use ASL options. Open the ASL viewer or picture-in-picture control when enabled. Resize or reposition it if supported without obscuring essential caption content.

  7. Keep the screen active. Use the screen-awake option if provided and permitted. Also check device battery saver, auto-lock, and browser background restrictions.

  8. Recover after interruption. Check network connection, return to the event URL, reload once, reselect language/settings if necessary, and contact staff if captions are missing for multiple viewers.

What this unlocks: The viewer sees timely captions in an available language with comfortable display settings and can recover from a normal browser or network interruption.

Check your understanding

  • The event identity is correct.
  • New captions continue to appear.
  • The selected language matches the visible text.
  • TTS, if used, is understandable and private.
  • ASL, if used, is live and correctly framed.

Common misconceptions

Page opens but no captions appear

The event may be offline or between speakers. Check event status, network, and whether other viewers see fresh text before reloading.

No sound from Spoken Captions

Tap the playback control, raise media volume, check Bluetooth/headphone output, verify the selected voice/language, and disable silent or battery restrictions.

QR code does not scan

Increase camera distance/lighting, clean the lens, use the printed short link, or ask staff for the URL.

Good to know

  • Use only organizer-provided links; do not enter account credentials into an unexpected page.
  • Do not rely on machine-generated captions or translations for emergency instructions unless the organizer has a separate verified safety channel.
  • Be mindful of personal information visible on your screen in public spaces.
