Use built-in or custom scene-caption text for structured non-transcript messages such as breaks, accessibility notices, and downtime.

Best for: XPression operators, graphics engineers, caption operators, broadcast engineers, production IT, and licensed desktop administrators.

Before you start

Requires an active 4All organization/event, authorized desktop account, eligible XPression Bridge license, supported app build, and a network path to 4All plus the selected XPression protocol.

  • Document the 4All event/language and XPression scene/DataLinq design.
  • Know the bridge/XPression machines, IP interfaces, protocol, direction, port, firewall owner, and final program return.
  • Prepare a backup output and an off-air test scene.

Steps

  1. Define authorized use. Holding, break, accessibility, emergency, or production notice.
  2. Choose category. General, sports, keynote, podcast, interview, panel, film, downtime, accessibility, or custom.
  3. Review built-in preset. Text, emoji, name, public tone, localization.
  4. Create custom preset. Name, emoji, text, category; avoid secrets/private cues.
  5. Activate off air first. Confirm activeSceneCaption and payload.
  6. Take scene/output. Coordinate with XPression operator.
  7. Return to live captions. Clear/deactivate according to runbook.
  8. Edit/delete custom presets only off air. Preserve approved wording/version.

What success looks like: The Bridge transports the correct 4All caption state to the intended XPression scene with verified formatting, timing, monitoring, and recovery.

Check your setup

  • Authorized scene text appears exactly when cued and live transcript resumes without stale notice.

Troubleshooting

Preset replaces captions unexpectedly

Clarify activation/return procedure.

Wrong category/text

Use approved version and update off air.

Notice remains

Clear/deactivate and inspect scene/data mapping.

Security and operational notes

  • Scene captions are public editorial content.
  • Do not use private control messages.
  • Emergency language requires approved source and authority.
