Operate a bridge during rehearsal and air using status, test captions, cloud connection, XPression connections, latency, and payload preview.
Best for: XPression operators, graphics engineers, caption operators, broadcast engineers, production IT, and licensed desktop administrators.
Before you start
Requires an active 4All organization/event, authorized desktop account, eligible XPression Bridge license, supported app build, and a network path to 4All plus the selected XPression protocol.
- Document the 4All event/language and XPression scene/DataLinq design.
- Know the bridge/XPression machines, IP interfaces, protocol, direction, port, firewall owner, and final program return.
- Prepare a backup output and an off-air test scene.
Step by step
- Open Status/Outputs. Confirm output ID/name, event, language, protocol, bind/port.
- Start disabled/off-air. Verify no unintended destination.
- Run test captions. Validate network, parser, mapping, rolling, clear, and scene.
- Stop test script. Confirm no test text remains.
- Confirm 4All event live. Cloud connected and last caption updates.
- Start production output. On cue.
- Monitor. Running, cloudConnected, xpressionConnections, lastCaptionAt, seq, latencyMs, roll lag, last error, local URLs, payload preview.
- Compare final program. Bridge status is not final proof.
- Stop on cue. Confirm connection/output and XPression scene clear/hold.
- Preserve logs. Incident timeline.
What success looks like: The Bridge transports the correct 4All caption state to the intended XPression scene with verified formatting, timing, monitoring, and recovery.
Check your setup
- Test and live captions reach the intended scene; operators can identify cloud versus XPression failure and stop cleanly.
Troubleshooting
Cloud connected, no XPression
Check protocol/host/port/firewall/DataLinq.
XPression connected, no live text
Check event live/language/source/reducer.
Latency grows
Inspect network, source provider, roll speed/lag, polling, and scene updates.
Security and operational notes
- Test captions can go on air if scene is live.
- Closing window may leave tray output running.
- Always monitor program return.
