Before you start

Availability depends on event access, plan entitlements, destination enablement, language configuration, and supported browser/display/network behavior.

  • Use the correct event and final source/target language configuration.
  • Know the physical or web destination, resolution, audience, privacy level, and monitoring owner.
  • Test the final receiving screen, embed, graphics path, or operator device—not only the setup preview.

How to choose

  1. State the audience/operator. Personal attendee, shared public screen, compositor, auxiliary display, interpreter viewer, authorized controller, graphics engine, or stream receiver.
  2. Choose Viewer. Personal language/readability/TTS/ASL controls.
  3. Choose Program. Shared designed caption presentation.
  4. Choose Closed Captions. Transparent browser overlay.
  5. Choose Extended/Stage. Independent paired display or private stage information.
  6. Choose ASL. Public interpreter output or private control/stage—never confuse them.
  7. Choose Remote Control. Authorized operation, not audience access.
  8. Choose Bridge/Encoder. XPression data integration or encoded video/audio/CEA delivery.
  9. Test final receiver. Document owner and fallback.

What success looks like: The intended audience or operator receives the correct event, language, styling, and control level with a documented reconnect and fallback path.

Translated audio destinations

  • BYOD listening: Attendees use their own phones and headphones.
  • Signal physical output: Signal sends a selected event and target-language LL-TTS feed to a dedicated workstation or audio-interface output.
  • Managed delivery: External venue-approved transmitters distribute that physical audio handoff to compatible receivers and headsets.

Extended Screen and QR-viewer captions are text destinations, not wireless-audio outputs. Choose BYOD, managed receivers, or a hybrid deliberately, and confirm the complete external hardware and RF path with the venue.
