Route a verified Signal path to the intended local speaker or physical audio-interface channel without exposing another language or program feed.
Best for: operators handing Signal audio to local monitoring or a dedicated downstream production input.
Select and map the output
- Stop the pipeline and add the physical output or speaker node.
- Select an output device that is currently available to the operating system and Signal.
- Map graph channels to the exact device channels in the production plan.
- For independently routed languages, use a dedicated output path and physical interface channel for each language.
- Add local metering before the output and set conservative gain.
- Start off air and confirm the correct program on the selected interface channel.
Stage gain through the handoff
Set the Signal path, interface output, and downstream input so each stage has usable level and headroom. Do not hide clipping by turning down only the final device. Some hardware-volume controls may not be available to Signal or may affect more than the selected channel; use the interface's supported control method and document the setting.
Important: validate the physical interface output before connecting downstream equipment. Signal stops at the workstation or physical audio-interface output.
Verify the interface
- The selected device remains available after a Signal relaunch.
- The intended output channel carries the correct language or program.
- Adjacent channels do not carry an unintended copy or mix.
- Peak and average levels preserve headroom without noise or distortion.
- A technician listens directly at the interface before connecting the transmitter or other destination.
Troubleshoot
- No meter in Signal: trace the source and graph before investigating the interface.
- Signal meter but no interface output: recheck device selection, channel mapping, interface power, operating-system routing, and hardware controls.
- Wrong language on a channel: stop and trace the TTS node, graph edge, and output mapping.
- Distortion: reduce the stage that clips and verify sample rate and clocking.
- Device missing: use the approved fallback or restore the interface; do not remap live audio to an unverified destination.
External-system boundary
Signal does not configure or include transmitters, RF frequencies, receivers, headsets, cabling, charging, sanitation, distribution, venue approval, or technicians. Hardware compatibility and coverage require separate human validation.
