Create a workspace, maintain its official name, and keep every administrative action in the correct organization.

Before you start

Creation and organization count may depend on account or plan policy; renaming requires administrative access.

  • Sign in with an individual account in the correct organization.
  • Confirm your role permits the requested change.
  • Record the current state and intended owner before making a production-impacting change.

Step by step

  1. Create the organization. Use onboarding or the organization switcher, enter the official customer/team name, and avoid test duplicates in production.
  2. Confirm ownership. Verify the initiating account is the expected owner and add a second governed administrator for continuity.
  3. Switch context. Use the organization switcher and read the active organization before editing events, members, billing, branding, roles, or credentials.
  4. Rename deliberately. Open Organization settings, update the display name, and communicate the change to operators.
  5. Refresh dependent views. Reload Events, Billing, member lists, and desktop workspace selectors.
  6. Update runbooks. Replace old names in approved links, diagrams, and support references without changing secrets.

What success looks like: The requested change is applied to the intended organization, is visible after refresh, and grants no more access than required.

Check your setup

  • The switcher shows the correct name.
  • Events and members remain with the same organization.
  • Desktop products refresh the renamed workspace.
  • Audit/support records can correlate old and new names.

Troubleshooting

Duplicate organization

Stop configuration, decide which workspace is authoritative, and migrate only through an approved plan.

Change appears in one view only

Refresh cached pages and desktop apps; confirm the organization ID did not change.

Cannot create or rename

Check owner/admin permission and organization/plan limits.

Security and operational notes

  • Read the active organization before every privileged action.
  • Do not use renaming to impersonate another customer or environment.
  • Keep production and sandbox organizations visibly distinct.
