Before you start

Audio, speech providers, multi-speaker features, and usage are governed by event permissions, plan entitlements, provider support, credentials or wallet, and browser/device compatibility.

  • Use the production event and supported browser/device.
  • Know the source language, speaker plan, latency target, output requirements, and fallback.
  • Test with representative voices, noise, pace, and the actual signal chain.

Step by step

  1. Confirm the symptom. Identify channel, speaker, output, and when the error began.
  2. Announce the change. Tell audio, caption, graphics, ASL, and stream operators as applicable.
  3. Choose the smallest fix. Prefer changing one mapping/mute/source over rebuilding routing.
  4. Protect the audience. Use a holding caption/alternate microphone or brief pause if policy permits.
  5. Apply once. Change the exact route and wait for saved/runtime confirmation.
  6. Test with a known phrase. Verify meter, recognition, speaker label, translation, and final outputs.
  7. Watch for side effects. Check simultaneous speakers, audio monitoring, and desktop destinations.
  8. Record the action. Use audit/incident notes and update the routing sheet after air.

What success looks like: The configured audio and recognition path produces stable, attributable captions within the approved latency/quality target and has a tested recovery path.

Troubleshooting

Change does not apply

Check save/permission/host ownership and avoid repeated competing edits.

Captions duplicate

Remove the old route or duplicate capture path.

New device has no signal

Grant/select/test it and check hardware before assigning it live.
