Operate safely during limited connectivity and restore cloud-dependent capabilities after the network returns.
Best for: Event producers, operators, and network coordinators.
Before you start
Local STT availability does not change plan requirements for cloud features or organization access.
- Use a non-production event for commissioning.
- Record the current build and workstation owner.
- Prepare a documented fallback before making changes.
- Complete an offline rehearsal for the exact build/workstation.
- Document local-only outputs and cloud-dependent outputs.
- Prepare a wired primary, backup connection, and incident communications.
What to know
- Before the event, authenticate, load the workspace/event, download local models/resources, and save required setup.
- List cloud dependencies: authorization refresh, remote viewers/sharing, translation/TTS, remote control, cloud transcript, analytics, exports, billing/usage, and support connectivity.
- During an outage, keep only the prevalidated local path running and record incident times.
- Do not repeatedly start duplicate producers or recreate the event while disconnected.
- When connectivity returns, verify identity/session and event state before enabling cloud paths.
- Check captions, viewers, translations, outputs, usage, and event status for duplication or gaps.
- Stop obsolete local/retry sessions and preserve logs.
- Document the outage window and reconcile exports/statistics with the operational record.
What this unlocks: The team understands the tested local capability, avoids conflicting sessions, and restores cloud features in a controlled order.
Check your understanding
- No duplicate transcription source remains.
- Viewers/outputs reconnect as expected.
- Event status and usage match the runbook.
- Incident evidence is retained.
Common misconceptions
- Session expired offline: continue only the approved local workflow; reauthorize when online.
- Cloud viewers blank: use the documented local display/output and communications plan.
- Duplicate text after reconnect: stop the stale producer and identify source IDs.
- Missing statistics: preserve local evidence and escalate with timestamps.
Good to know
Important: Never advertise full offline operation without testing every required output. Local recognition and end-to-end viewer delivery are different capabilities.
