Account Recovery Without a Passkey

Regain access after losing a passkey, replacing a device, or encountering verification problems.

Best for: Locked-out users and authorized administrators assisting them.

Before you start

Recovery uses another configured identity method and does not override organization authorization.

• Know the exact account email and organization.
• Have one trusted alternative: email code, password, Google, another passkey, or approved support verification.
• Do not transfer memberships before identity is confirmed.

Troubleshooting steps

1. Try another configured method. Use email code, password, Google, or another passkey.
2. Complete email verification. Request one current code if redirected.
3. Remove the lost authenticator. After sign-in, delete it in Account Settings → Passkeys.
4. Add and test a replacement. Register on a trusted device and verify in a private window.
5. Review security. Check profile and passkeys; change the password and revoke sessions if compromise is possible.
6. Escalate safely. When no method remains, use approved identity-verification support; never borrow an admin account.

After the fix: The original account is recovered, unavailable credentials are removed, and correct audit history is preserved.

Confirm the fix

• The original account—not a duplicate—opens.
• Lost passkeys are absent.
• A new recovery method works.
• Organization/team/event access is unchanged.

If the problem continues

Every method fails

Stop repeated attempts, confirm the email/domain, and use verified account recovery.

Code expires

Request once and enter the newest code promptly.

Duplicate account created

Stop moving access and ask support to assess identity cleanup.

Escalation and safety

• Administrators must not bypass identity verification.
• Treat a lost unlocked device as an incident.
• Document emergency restoration of privileged access.
