Create a valid desktop session for the correct user and organization without entering credentials inside the desktop shell.
Best for: All desktop operators and administrators.
Before you start
Requires an invited/active 4All account and access to the intended organization/team.
- Use a non-production event for commissioning.
- Record the current build and workstation owner.
- Prepare a documented fallback before making changes.
- System default browser can reach the configured 4All authorization site.
- Deep-link scheme com.4allcompany.4alllive.desktop is registered.
- The user knows which organization/team owns the event.
Step by step
- Select Authorize App in the desktop sign-in screen.
- The system browser opens the 4All authorization page; verify the domain and signed-in identity.
- Review requested desktop access and approve only for the intended workstation.
- Allow the browser to open/return to 4All.Live through its registered deep link.
- Wait for the desktop session poller to load the authenticated user.
- Choose the organization and team, then verify event access.
- If workspace membership changed, refresh/re-authorize rather than repeatedly creating sessions.
- At shift end on a shared workstation, stop live work, sign out, verify the user identity is cleared, and close the app.
What success looks like: The desktop header shows the expected user and authorized workspace, and protected desktop API requests succeed.
Check your setup
- Browser and desktop display the same user.
- Only authorized organizations/teams appear.
- Event data loads without repeated authorization prompts.
- Sign-out removes access from the shared workstation.
Troubleshooting
- Wrong user: sign out from desktop and browser, then authorize intentionally.
- Return link ignored: reinstall/repair deep-link registration and set a default browser.
- Authorization denied/expired: start a new request; do not reuse stale pages.
- Organization absent: ask an owner to verify invitation/role.
Security and operational notes
Important: Do not authorize a shared or unattended workstation under a personal owner account. Use least privilege and sign out at handoff.
