Control how partial and final text becomes visible lines, avoids repeats, and highlights the active phrase.

Before you start

Audio, speech providers, multi-speaker features, and usage are governed by event permissions, plan entitlements, provider support, credentials or wallet, and browser/device compatibility.

  • Use the production event and supported browser/device.
  • Know the source language, speaker plan, latency target, output requirements, and fallback.
  • Test with representative voices, noise, pace, and the actual signal chain.

Step by step

  1. Observe raw behavior. Use a test that includes corrections, repeated words, pauses, and reconnect.
  2. Set final assembly. Choose how finalized segments append, replace, or roll.
  3. Set deduplication. Prevent reconnect/partial-final overlap without deleting legitimate repetition.
  4. Set active highlighting. Use it only when contrast and cognitive load are appropriate.
  5. Set line/segment retention. Match display size and reading speed.
  6. Test speaker changes. Ensure identity and text boundaries stay aligned.
  7. Test translation. Source revisions must not leave duplicate/stale target lines.
  8. Test clearing/stop. Confirm downstream output behavior.

What success looks like: The configured audio and recognition path produces stable, attributable captions within the approved latency/quality target and has a tested recovery path.

Check your setup

  • Text progresses without duplicate blocks, lost legitimate repetitions, stale highlights, or mismatched speaker boundaries.

Troubleshooting

Repeated legitimate word removed

Reduce aggressive dedupe and retest.

Partial and final both remain

Review replacement key/segment identity and provider reconnect.

Highlight is unreadable

Adjust contrast/animation or disable it.

Security and operational notes

  • Do not use highlight as the only active-state cue.
  • Verify seizure/motion and accessibility requirements.
  • Preserve exact transcript separately from display effects.
