Tune Chirp 3 streaming, relay/fallback, punctuation, endpointing, and denoising for live use.

Best for: Live producers, caption operators, audio engineers, broadcast engineers, and authorized event administrators.

Before you start

Audio, speech providers, multi-speaker features, and usage are governed by event permissions, plan entitlements, provider support, credentials or wallet, and browser/device compatibility.

  • Use the production event and supported browser/device.
  • Know the source language, speaker plan, latency target, output requirements, and fallback.
  • Test with representative voices, noise, pace, and the actual signal chain.

Configuration

  1. Select Google Chirp 3 and locale/model. Confirm project/API/region and event support.
  2. Verify relay path. Check the configured streaming relay and WebSocket/network reachability.
  3. Set fallback policy. Document behavior if relay/provider fails.
  4. Configure punctuation. Test readability and segment churn.
  5. Configure denoiser. Use only when it improves actual audio without speech damage.
  6. Tune endpointing. Balance fast finals with complete phrases.
  7. Apply adaptation. Google supports up to 1,000 phrases; each phrase up to 100 characters and total adaptation characters are provider-limited.
  8. Run end-to-end test. Compare partials, finals, translation, and output latency.

What success looks like: The configured audio and recognition path produces stable, attributable captions within the approved latency/quality target and has a tested recovery path.

Check your setup

  • Chirp 3 streams reliably, finalizes at the intended pace, and improves representative recognition without unstable fallback.

Troubleshooting

Relay unavailable

Check service health, URL/config, firewall/WebSocket, auth, and fallback.

Adaptation ignored

Confirm fixed source mode, sanitizer results, phrase/provider limits, and saved glossary.

Denoiser harms speech

Disable/reduce it and fix input audio.

Security and operational notes

  • Do not expose service-account keys.
  • Test fallback before air.
  • Provider model behavior can evolve.
