Install the licensed desktop bridge, authenticate it, select stable/nightly update policy, and validate tray behavior.

Best for: XPression operators, graphics engineers, caption operators, broadcast engineers, production IT, and licensed desktop administrators.

Before you start

Requires an active 4All organization/event, authorized desktop account, eligible XPression Bridge license, supported app build, and a network path to 4All plus the selected XPression protocol.

  • Document the 4All event/language and XPression scene/DataLinq design.
  • Know the bridge/XPression machines, IP interfaces, protocol, direction, port, firewall owner, and final program return.
  • Prepare a backup output and an off-air test scene.

Installation and updates

  1. Confirm platform and architecture. Use a currently supported signed installer; Ross XPression itself runs on the approved Windows graphics system.
  2. Confirm network. 4All HTTPS/WebSocket access plus the chosen local/LAN output port.
  3. Confirm license. Assign XPression Bridge device capacity in Billing before production.
  4. Install. Use the approved release and security verification.
  5. Authorize. Browser sign-in, correct organization/team/event access.
  6. Review Settings. Auto-start on login is off by default; auto-start hidden is on; start enabled outputs on launch is off; keep running in tray is on; auto update checks are on.
  7. Choose update channel. Stable for production; nightly only for controlled testing.
  8. Restart test. Confirm sign-in, license, tray, events, settings, and logs.
  9. Freeze for production. Do not install updates immediately before air.

What success looks like: The Bridge transports the correct 4All caption state to the intended XPression scene with verified formatting, timing, monitoring, and recovery.

Check your setup

  • Installed version and channel recorded.
  • App reopens and remains in tray as intended.
  • Authorized org/events load.
  • License is valid.

Troubleshooting

Installer blocked

Use signed approved build and endpoint-security process.

Callback fails

Allow registered desktop callback and remove stale installs.

Update unsupported

Check platform/architecture/channel and current installer.
