Restore text translation or spoken captions while proving whether source captions, translation, or TTS is the failing stage.
Best for: Producers, accessibility operators, and support.
Before you start
Translation/TTS requires enabled languages, plan entitlements, valid provider configuration, and available usage/wallet capacity.
- Use a non-production reproduction when possible.
- Record current configuration before changes.
- Keep an independent confidence monitor and fallback.
- Confirm source captions are healthy.
- Record source/target languages, provider, glossary, voice, output, and first failure time.
- Use a private viewer for testing.
Troubleshooting steps
- Verify the target language is enabled on the event and selected by the viewer/output.
- Confirm source finals arrive; translation cannot recover absent source text.
- Check organization-managed or BYOK provider credentials, region, quota, billing, and supported language pair.
- Temporarily test without a custom glossary to isolate malformed terms or incompatible provider behavior.
- Compare translation status/metadata and sequence with source captions.
- For spoken captions, verify TTS entitlement, voice availability, browser autoplay/audio output, volume, and queue state.
- Check whether the target language works in text but fails in TTS; if so, isolate voice/provider support.
- Restore glossary/voice one change at a time and validate terminology, latency, and privacy.
After the fix: The issue is isolated to event configuration, provider translation, glossary processing, TTS synthesis, or viewer playback.
Confirm the fix
- Source captions are healthy.
- Target text updates with sequence.
- Spoken output uses correct voice/device.
- Provider quota/usage state is documented.
If the problem continues
- Language absent: enable it and republish/share as required.
- 401/403: repair credential/access; never paste key into support notes.
- 429/quota: use approved provider/funding fallback.
- Text works/audio fails: allow autoplay and select correct output device.
Escalation and safety
Important: Translated and synthesized content can be inaccurate. Keep human review for safety-critical, legal, medical, or public-emergency material.
