Help viewers select a voice, play/pause generated speech, set speed, and handle language changes.

Before you start

Translation, target-language count, glossaries, and text-to-speech depend on event permissions, provider/model/language support, plan entitlements, usage allowances or wallet, and eligible BYOK configuration.

  • Confirm source language and provider quality first.
  • List approved target locales, terminology, voice requirements, and human review responsibilities.
  • Test with representative content before distributing viewer links.

Step by step

  1. Open Viewer Settings. Select Spoken Captions/TTS when enabled.
  2. Confirm caption language. The visible text language should match the intended spoken output.
  3. Choose voice. Select an available locale-bound or named speaker option.
  4. Start playback. Tap the control to satisfy browser autoplay policy.
  5. Set device output. Use headphones or the intended Bluetooth/audio device and adjust media volume.
  6. Set speed. Increase only while speech remains understandable.
  7. Pause/stop. Use the viewer control before leaving or switching language.
  8. Recover. Reload the official viewer, reselect language/voice, and tap play after a network/device change.

What success looks like: The configured language service produces the intended accessible output with known quality, latency, usage, and recovery behavior.

Check your setup

  • The viewer hears current generated speech through the intended personal output and can stop it immediately.

Troubleshooting

Play button inactive

Event may not enable TTS or selected language/provider lacks a voice.

Wrong voice/language

Reselect caption language then voice; clear stale preference if necessary.

Sound from wrong device

Change OS/browser audio output or Bluetooth route.

Security and operational notes

  • Use headphones in shared spaces.
  • Spoken captions may lag live speech.
  • Do not rely on TTS for emergency instructions without a verified safety channel.
